TikTok Creator Fund 101: How to Apply + Get Paid to Post on TikTok

Get PAID to post on TikTok!

It's official. The $1 billion TikTok Creator fund is now taking applications to monetize your views on TikTok. The goal of this program is to add ways for creators to get paid to post on TikTok and inspire them to take it to the next level.

So who is eligible to monetize on TikTok? And more importantly, what will this program look like?

Much like YouTube, there are requirements to monetize your page on TikTok. On YouTube you need to have 1,000 subscribers on your channel, and your videos have generated 4,000 watch time hours over the last 12 months. Honestly, compared to YouTube - getting access to this program is in theory much easier. We'll see how it evolves over the coming months.

As someone who has been posting on TikTok (previously Musical.ly) since 2015, I am so excited for the chance to monetize. There has actually been signs of a program like this in the TikTok terms of service for that last YEAR and we've been patiently waiting for the program to launch.

Now, this fund isn't to be confused with the TikTok Creative Learning Fund which launched in April. If you've been paying attention to my podcast, I've discussed how TikTok is pushing educational content and may even be launching a 'learning' segment of the app at some point in the future. Check out the #LearnOnTiktok hashtag to see who is being paid to post content as part of the program.

(Pro Tip: Use these videos for inspiration on how to integrate educational content into your brand!)

Here's how to apply to the The TikTok Creator Fund.

First it's important to note that there are a few requirements to be eligible:

  1. You must have 10,000 followers

  2. You must have at least 10,000 video views in the last 30 days

  3. You must be 18 of older

In addition to these requirements it's important to post original content. It sounds like duets and reactions will not be eligible for monetization but I'm still waiting on further confirmation on this. Since this program literally rolled out on August 18th we're still waiting on more clarification.

As far as what exactly you get paid on, it sounds like you start accruing views as soon as you join on ALL videos not just new content. We shall see if this is true!

Most influencers and content creators are used to waiting at least 30-60 days to get paid for Adsense, brand deals, and affiliate links. The Creator Fund is no different. The Dashboard note that the balance for each month can be withdrawn approximately 30 days after the end of that month.

Here's how you apply:

  • Open up your TikTok app

  • Go to your Account Settings

  • Select **Creator or Pro Account

  • Select TikTok Creator Fund

(Be sure you have the most updated version of TikTok!)

If you don't already have Creator or Pro Account:

  1. Tap "Me" to open your profile.

  2. Tap "..." to open your settings.

  3. Tap "Manage my account".

  4. Tap "Switch to Pro Account".

  5. Select "Creator".

Have you applied yet? What have your results been with the program so far? Let me know in the comments!
